Due to many factors, the TLT Backpacking Trip has been cancelled. We will try to reschedule it at a later date.

Last day to drop off stuff for campout is Thursday!
We had a grand total of 4 people drop off their stuff tonight at the church. If you want your stuff on the trailer rather than your lap on Friday, you NEED to bring your stuff to the church tomorrow (Thursday) to drop it off between 7-8 PM along with your Permission Slip and your Pathfinder Health Record. If you do not have BOTH of those forms, you CANNOT go to the campout this weekend.
Also don’t forget that the price for the campout is $20 which you need to bring tomorrow night.
We’ll see you then!
Camping Skills IV
Our Camping Skills weekend is just a little bit over 2 weeks. There are some things that needs to be done before we leave. The following must be done before we leave. When I say “done”, it must be turned in before we leave or there will be some penalties.
- Write a 200-word report on the preservation of the wilderness, discussing etiquette, and conservation. Some topics to cover, but should not be limited to; how to behave in the campsite, how to treat others campers in the campsites and campsites in the vicinity, showing respect and cleanliness to the campsite and people within the campsite and campsites in the vicinity.
- You are to take part in planning the menu for a camping trip and estimate the cost. It is YOUR responsibility to ask who is our food coordinator.
- Along with the food coordinator, you are to prepare a dinner with soup, vegetables, entree, and a drink. (All of which must be cooked)
- Purify water by three different methods.
- Boiling
- Iodine
- Chlorine
- Filtering

Winter Campout – 1/30/2011 Update
As of right now, it looks like the weather is going to live up to the name of our Winter Campout. As of right now, it’s looking like a cold front is going to hit Wednesday and drop the lows into the teens.
However….
It’s looking like it will warm up a bit by the time we get to the park, with highs in the mid-50′s. Having said that, PLEASE make sure to pack WARM clothes that you can layer together. This means have something like a long-sleeve t-shirt underneath another shirt with a sweatshirt on top of that and a jacket over all of that. That way if you get warm you can always peel off a layer if you get too warm, but if not you should end up nice and toasty.
Also please look at your sleeping bags. Make sure you have the warmest sleeping bag you can get a hold of. In addition, if you have a wool blanket (not cotton!), make sure to bring it. What you will want to do is to wrap yourself in the wool blanket inside of your sleeping bag.
Overall, this campout is going to be fun as long as you come prepared!
Lastly, as we find out more information about the weather or anything else, we will be sure to post it.
