What’s up Companions!!

Assignment #1 (FAMILY TREE) pg. 10

With your parents help form a family tree. Go as far as you could leading to your generation. For example: if you can only remember (with your parents help) from your great great grand parents up until to your generation, apple then that’s fine. Draw the family tree onto your Companion Activity Diary (that is the red booklet) on page 10.

Assignment #2 (COMMUNITY OUTREACH) pg. 7

With the help of 2 or 3 friends, spend 6 hours working for your church, school, or community. Please ask your parents to help you make a log of how many hours you spent for that day. YOU DO NOT have to do all 6 hours in one day. break it up into smaller hours. For example, do 2 hours this Sabbath and 1 hour at school, etc. Have an adult (NOT your friends) that supervised you to sign your log and write down the how many hours you did for that day. I will tell you at our next meeting more about this assignment.

Assignment #3 (CHRISTIAN LIFESTYLE) pg. 8

Discuss and demonstrate respect for your parents/guardians and what they provide for you. This is a two part assignment.

First, the discussion part is for your to write a one paragraph (or more if you want, but requirement is only one paragraph) on respecting your parents/guardians and the things that they do for you.

Second, the demonstration will be a role play during class time. Everyone WILL participate. If you choose not to participate, you will lose 1 point against you. Really guys, it’s not that hard two do. Please start thinking of what you will contribute to the group of what you will do for the role play. You will have 20 minutes to talk with the rest of the classmates and 10 minutes to perform.

The two other assignments are due as well. The two assignments are found on the previous announcement I posted. Please take a look at it. One of them is on pg. 4 “II. Church Heritage” and the 2nd assignment is on pg. 6 “I. ONE TO ONE” on your Companion Activity Diary.

ALL of these homework are due on November 21, 2010. If you come to class unprepared, you WILL lose 1 point. Please do them. They are very easy and you can finish most of them in one day.

Since we do not have to do any class work tomorrow, October 10, 2010, you will actually have 2 weeks until the next meeting.

ASSIGNMENT!

Assignment #1.(CHURCH HERITAGE)

With your parents, read about the first vision of Ellen G. White. Discuss with them how God uses prophets to present His message to the church. Ellen G. White’s first vision is written up in Early Writings, pages 13-32. The material provides excellent food for discussion and though, especially for a Friday night vespers. Here is a link http://www.gilead.net/egw/books2/earlywritings/ewindex.html to the pages that you need to read for this assignment. That way you don’t need to go look the book.

Write a 1 page report on what you talked about with your parents based on the readings of Early Writings.

Assignment #2. (ONE-TO-ONE)

Part A — Make a personal visit to an elderly member of YOUR church and follow up with a thoughtful phone call, letter, or card expressing joy in meeting him/her. Part B — Assignment of specific persons to be visited may be necessary so that as many of the elderly may be benefited as possible. Do a follow up, as it is crucial not only to the requirement but to the validity and impact of the whole process. caring has little value in superficiality.

I will need a signed note from the parents to indicate that the visit and the follow up were done.

These homeworks are due the next regular meeting which is on Sunday 24, 2010

POR FLAVOR!! Do the homework that is assigned and BRING it on the due date. If you don’t, you WILL still be required to do them but that means you pay the consequence of losing points as well as getting more homework on top of the homework that has already been assigned.
